Managing water resources – the international Water4All challenge

In September, the fourth call for proposals was announced for the European Partnership Water4All international program, which supports research and innovation projects focused on water management. The call will focus on key issues related to the link between water and human health, including water quality, contaminants, and water treatment technologies.

The topics of the call (in the original wording) are:

  1. Waterborne contaminants and health risks: occurrence, behavior, interactions, and vulnerability
  2. Innovative Tools and Technologies for Water Quality and Exposure Monitoring
  3. Water Treatment and Exposure Mitigation
  4. Governance, Socio-Economic Innovation, and Policy Integration for Water and Health

The priority areas of the call are natural resources, global change, environmental technologies and eco-innovation, and an environmentally friendly society.

Who can apply for a grant and how much is it?

Project proposals may be submitted by international consortia consisting of at least three independent partners from at least three different EU countries participating in the call or from countries associated with the Horizon Europe program, namely Belgium, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, South Africa, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Moldova, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Austria, Greece, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR) will provide Czech applicants with financial support totaling EUR 500,000, with a maximum limit of EUR 160,000 per project. The main applicants on the Czech side can be companies of all sizes or research organizations.

The maximum permitted aid intensity for the Czech side of the project is 80% of the total eligible project costs.

What can you finance with the grant?

  • personnel costs (including scholarships)
  • subcontracting costs
  • other direct costs (depreciation, intellectual property protection, operating costs, travel expenses)
  • indirect costs

The call is governed by international rules that apply to all participating countries. In addition to these international rules, Czech applicants must also meet the national conditions set by the relevant Czech provider based on the SIGMA – International Cooperation program.
