Materials research and innovation with the international M-ERA.NET call
The M.ERA.NET 4 Call 2026 has just been launched for projects focusing on materials research and innovation. The Technology Agency will support Czech applicants (companies and research organizations), who can apply for financial support of up to €350,000 per project.
The research topics for 2026 focus on the following areas:
- Materials for energy storage and distribution systems
- Materials for energy conversion
- Innovative surfaces, coatings and interfaces
- Innovative functional materials with defined architectures
- Materials addressing environmental challenges
- Next generation materials for Electronics
International consortium
The project must be carried out by at least three partners from at least three participating countries, of which at least two are EU member states or associated countries. The participating countries include Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Italy, France, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Germany, Norway, Poland, Austria, Slovakia, Czech, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Non-European countries include Brazil, South Africa, South Korea, Canada, Taiwan, and Turkey.
Research organizations and companies can apply for the call as main applicants or other participants. Projects must be financed by at least three different participating providers. The project consortium may be supplemented by partners from countries that are not part of the consortium of providers, if they secure their own funding.
Eligible expenses
Financial support for the Czech part of the project will cover up to 80% of eligible costs in the following categories:
- personnel costs, including scholarships;
- subcontracting costs;
- other direct and indirect costs;
Pre-proposal
Applicants to the call first submit a shortened project proposal (a so-called pre-proposal), which precedes the full project proposal. The shortened project proposal serves to assess whether the complete project proposal has the potential to succeed in the call, thus helping to save time for both parties.
