New public tender in the Sigma program, this time with international cooperation

Are you planning an applied research project in which you would like to cooperate with a foreign partner? Take advantage of the SIGMA – Bilateral Cooperation program!

Thanks to this program, you can gain international knowledge and best practices from foreign partners. At the same time, it can greatly facilitate your entry into foreign markets.

The main objective of the program is to support international projects focused on specific outputs in applied research – knowledge for new or significantly improved products, processes, or services in areas that are promising for the future of the participating countries (France, South Korea, Saxony, Israel, and Taiwan).

What can you finance with the grant?

  • personal costs of research workers, including scholarships
  • subcontracting costs
  • other direct and indirect costs

How much is the grant

The maximum grant per project is CZK 20 million. The maximum intensity of support for the entire project is set at 75%.

Who can apply for the grant

Companies from all over the Czech Republic, including the City of Prague, can apply for a grant as the main applicant. In addition, at least one foreign partner is required, which may be a company or research organization from one of the countries listed above. Another company or research organization based in the EU, the European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland may also participate in the project as an additional participant.

Selected conditions of the public tender

Only bilateral cooperation is permitted, where the project is supported simultaneously by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR) and one of the pre-selected foreign organizations providing grant support.

The program is not thematically focused; the selection of topics is determined separately with each foreign organization and reflects the priority areas of applied research in the participating locations. Selected projects must respond to the current or future needs of the country concerned. Examples of topics:

  • nuclear energy, sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies
  • environmentally friendly cars and car parts, environmentally friendly machines, electronics/electrical engineering
  • ICT and cyber security
  • artificial intelligence, robotics and cybernetics
  • health care and biomedicine
  • new and intelligent agriculture

Project proposals must be submitted in English.
