TWIST: Instead of innovation, a new opportunity for research and AI projects

You may have already noticed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade has announced that the planned and long-awaited public tender in Subprogram 2 “Innovation into Practice” will not be announced in 2025.

We will therefore have to wait a little longer for support for the introduction of new or significantly improved products, processes, or services into practice in small and medium-sized enterprises.

But we also have good news for you – a competition is being prepared within Subprogram 1 “Applied Research in Strategic Areas,” which will again focus on supporting research and development projects using artificial intelligence. The announcement is planned for the end of October and beginning of November 2025.

So what are the conditions for obtaining a TWIST grant – research and development?

• Small, medium-sized, and large enterprises (large enterprises only in cooperation with research organizations) can apply for the grant.
• Support is primarily provided to projects focused on artificial intelligence, microelectronics, quantum technologies, and semiconductors.
• The amount of support can reach up to 80% of eligible expenses, depending on the type of applicant and the nature of the cooperation.
• The subsidy will cover, in particular, the wage costs of researchers, technicians, and professional staff, investments in tangible and intangible assets (e.g., equipment depreciation), operating costs, materials, software, external services and contract research, consulting services, and overhead costs.
