Operational program Prague - growth pole of the Czech Republic (OP PGP)

OP Prague — Growth Pole of the Czech Republic is a successor to the OP Prague — Adaptability (OP PA) and the OP Prague — Competitiveness (OP PC).

The Operational Program aims to support research and development, small and medium-sized enterprises, low-carbon footprint economies, social services and education. It is essential to secure that all forms of resources (land, real estate and infrastructure, energy, finances) are utilized effectively in the spirit of sustainable development.

Viable applicants include the City of Prague, research organizations, enterpreneurial subjects and non-profit NGOs.

The program will be financed via the European Fund for Regional Development and the European Social Fund. The program is a multi-fund system of support from the EU. The sum allocated for support is 201,590,104 EUR.

Priority axis 1 — Strengthening research, technological development and innovations

  • Creating partnership and cooperation between businesses, research and development centers and higher education institutions.
  • Support for the development of businesses with high training and education demands.
  • Investment into developing products and services.
  • Support for the sharing of technologies and social innovations.
  • Setting up networks, clusters and open innovations via intelligent specialization.
  • Support for technical and applied research, pilot plants.
  • Measures for timely testing of producs, abilities in mass production and release.

Examples of supported activities

  • Support for activities leading to commercialization of research results and their practical usage.
  • Support for cooperation of firms across different sectors.


Priority axis 2 — Sustainable mobility and energy savings

Goals in this axis:

  • Energy savings achieved by using appropriate renewable sources of energy.
  • Support of low-carbon footprint strategies in all types of regions.
  • Increasing the attractivity of public city transport.


Examples of supported activities:

  • Increasing energetic efficiency in object and technical facilities for securing functionality of public city transport.
  • Transformation of public buildings with high energy demands into energetically efficient objects.
  • Establishment of parking places near railway stations and complementary services including depositories for baggage and for bicycles.
  • Establishing new separation of tram routes from other traffic.


Priority axis 3 — Support for social integration and tackling poverty

  • Strengthening social infrastrucutre for integration, community services and preventive measures.
  • Providing support to socially oriented enterprises.
  • Broadening access to quality services, including healthcare adn social services for common good.
  • Supporting professional integration into socially oriented enterprises and social and solidary economy.

Examples of supported activities

  • Increasing the capacity of services to the homeless and people threatenede by the prospect of homelessness.
  • Increasing the capacity of accessible cultural-community centers and sports community centers.
  • Creation and development of socially oriented enterprises which provide job opportunities for the disadvantaged and those who are seen as less easily employable in Prague.

Priority axis 4 — Education and learning and support for high employment

  • Increasing quality and achieving a sufficient capacity of preschool, elementary school and high school level education.
  • Investment into education, professional tutoring and lifelong learning.
  • Equal access to programs of preschool development, to primary and secondary education and formal and informal education possibilities.
  • Developing inner potential. 
  • Transforming deteriorating industrial zones, boosting employment.

Examples of supported activities

Support for alternative forms of non-parental preschool care.

  • Creating more places for children of up to 3 years of age in daycare centers or kindergartens.
  • Boosting the capacity of educational institutions for children of up to 3 years of age.
  • Increasing quality of class equipment while accentuating personal and inclusive teaching methods at preschool facilities, elementary schools and high schools.
  • Support for cooperation between institutions of education and the non-profit sector, cultural and sports institutions and city authorities regarding education and involvement in the processes of education.
  • Increased availability of teaching programs regarding social and civic competence, competences pertaining to sustainable developpment and broadening of cultural awareness and expression in the education process.
  • Schooling of educators in order to secure the ability to provide inclusive, innovative and high-quality education.
